As always since 2014, World Shorebirds Day celebrates shorebirds with the Global Shorebird Counts. It is a popular event that highlights the importance of regular and structured shorebird monitoring for conservation purposes.
In 2021 shorebirds will be counted worldwide from 1-7 September. Last year we broke records with the number of submitted eBird checklists and the number of counting locations. We don't expect this to happen this year, but we encourage everyone to participate, should COVID-19 rules allow it.
