Launching the Eurasian Shorebird Survey is one of the most important milestones in shorebird citizen-science. The feedback has been very positive and we even got organisational and eBird community support from a few countries. This kind of support is fantastic.
Site registration is open and I encourage you to take part in the survey. Yes, it requires commitment of some sort but there is no success in citizen science programs and shorebird conservation without commitments.
It is very important to know that the Eurasian Shorebird Survey not prioritises coastal habitats, but targets inland wetlands and other suitable shorebird habitats as well!
Steps required:
Register your survey site;
Follow the survey dates;
Visit the survey site and count shorebirds (ideally all birds)
Report results after the survey.
The way of reporting has been expanded to use traditional spreadsheet forms for those don't use eBird. The new website is under development but it will be published before the end of this year.
